The main cause of India's defeat is IPL, says Gavaskar

Gavaskar has come out with the statement that it was IPL which was the main cause of India's defeat.

Under the influence of largesse, Indian players have forgotten India !

Previously, even with a slight injury players were ready to prove their fitness and play for the country.

Now the situation has reversed, with the players ready to sit outside, lest they aggravate their injury.

Previously, fielders gave 100%, to save boundaries and sixes. Now the situation has changed, with the fielders not exerting fully, lest they be injured. Injury means they will not be able to play for IPL and earn fabulous sums ! As many as 81 fours were conceded to the South Africans in the First Test.

Instead of playing for the country and gaining glory thereby, most of the players are now spending more time for the multi-crore IPL. This, says India's veteran, is responsible for the Indian defeat.

The defeat suffered by India is humiliating. There are players who have not fielded for two days ! This behaviour has amazed many, says Gavaskar.

Indian players have not played Test after end Jan. Most of them were more interested in jumping at the function hosted by the bosses of IPL.

Gavaskar appealed to Gary Kirsten to bring all players under one umbrealla.

It is evident that the players coming from abroad will be enthusiastic when going home. But in a series in India, after coming from home, why try to fly home after one week ? This overenthusiasm fuels suspicion. Whip is needed for this problem, says the ex-batsman.

Instead of training for dance, players should correct themselves. They are up against a formidable pace trio, perhaps, the most potent fast bowling attack in the world. At least on current form. Steyn is ranked No 1. If Indian players cannot do the modifications, all the good name gained during the Tour Down Under will go down the drain.

This is a very critical time for Indian criket. If India cannot win the 3rd Test, she will be replaced from the No 2 spot !
