Trott's Plan could have worked, if catches were taken

We had asked the question " Will Trott's Plan work "? It almost did, had it not been for the floored, simple catch which G Maxwell gave at 33! History would have made and Afg would have vanquished Australia ! This is actually an old, Indian strategy. IN the 70s, India had 4 world class spinners - PRasanna, Bedi, Venkat & CHandra. With them India beat Eng in Eng and Wi in Wies. Ind had no substantial batting then , two heroes emerged, Gavaskar and Tendulkar, redeeming Indian batting from misery. India became World Champions in 1983. The Indian swing bowlers, swung the ball more than the 90 mph WI bowlers, 4 of them ( a terrifying spectacle ). Movement became India's USP and the emphasis was to bowl and swing at 140 kph than bowl at 150 kph.

India kept her standard in spin bowling too. Line and length were given prime importance and spinners continued to take wickets. Now India bowling is considered to be the most potent attack, with the world's best dreading to face the Ind swing and spin bowlers under lights! ( India's bowling coach is Mhambrey and Head Coach, Dravid. Our compliments ). Today Afg takes on mighty SA. Pak batsmen could do nothing when the Afg spinners bound them for 282 and beat them. Will they try to do this against SA? Let us wait and see!
