Saha proves he is good !
Chennai's great run at home continued as they beat Kochi by 11 runs. Chennai was largely helped by wicket keeper Saha's brilliant 46. Later, the Chennai bowlers retricted Kochi to 141/5. Kochi finished their campaign with 12 points from 14 outings.
For Chennai, it was their seventh victory at home . Ashwin was their top bowler, taking 1/16 off the allotted four overs. The dangerous Brendon was kept under control by Ashwin. As Brendon was the key player who could have done it for Kochi, he was kept quiet by the wily offspinner. However, Brendon was finally out to Jakati, clean bowled. Kochi's chance went out of the window thus and despite the rear guard action by Hodge, Kochi lost to a domineering Chennai.
Saha has been out for a while and he proved himself yesterday with a 46 off 33 balls, with one four and three sixes.
R P Singh clean bowled M Vijay and Chennai were 19/1. Raina holed out to Sreeshant for 19 and the score was 40/2. Badri did not last long and was out to Hodge, when the score was 60. Chennai lost Hussey to Jadgeja for 32 at the score at 97. Then Saha played a good innings, partnered by Dhoni and Albie Morkel and Chennai reached 152/5.
When Kochi batted Patel was out to Ashwin. Gyaneshwara Rao was out to Bravo, caught and bowled. Hodge played a brilliant innings of 51 not out and ran out of partners. Jadeja was out to Bollinger and Owais Shah was run out. 50 runs were needed off 24 balls and even though Hodge hit two consecutive sixes, it was not enough to take Kochi home.
Patel missed a stumping chance of Saha and Saha capitalised on this to play a good innings of 46.. A match winning innings, one should say, as he had to prove himself, as he was selected as second wicket keeper for the WI tour !
